Help! friends mac screen looks like this..

Avocheeseado

Hi, my friend has just messaged me with a picture of her MacBook air screen. She said that she just opened it and it looked like this: I assume the screen is broken but has anyone got any ideas how to sort this or what/why this has happened?

Thanks

Possibly physical damage or forcing the lid shut with something in between the screen and keyboard. That black spot with no LCD leak looks like a point of impact.

That looks like it's from physical damage.

Could've been caused by a number of different things, but likely it's either:

- something was placed on the keyboard (near the Escape key) and when the laptop closed, it caused this damage

- a blunt force was applied to the top shell, causing this damage (which I find less likely, with aluminum topped devices, you'd see a dent after all)
