Full Space on SSD even though its not full...?

Dankcube
Go to solution Solved by Hairless Monkey Boy,

Empty your recycle bun bin. Delete temp files by running disk cleanup.

If that makes any sense to you guys. I woke up today, turned on my computer and I had literally ZERO gigabytes left on my ssd even though I did not download or update anything for a fact.

I have a 240GB 860 EVO SSD. My computer BSOD a couple days ago with an error that said "driver irql_less_or_not_equal" I am assuming that it has something to do with this. Anybody know uhh how to get my space back or know what the F happened. weirdest thing ive ever seen.

you should get more storage nonetheless. I'll remind you in a week when it fills up again, and this time, for real

In case you are wondering why it says 232GB instead of 240GB:

Windows does math in binary, and does kibibytes, mebibytes, gibibytes, tebibytes, etc. where 1 mebibyte = 1024 kibibytes, 1 gibibyte = 1024 mebibytes, and so on.

Almost everyone else does math in powers of 10, which is kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes, terabytes, etc. where 1 megabyte = 1000 kilobytes, 1 gigabyte = 1000 megabytes, and so on.

I have one question for them:
WHY??

You wrote a 256MB file, try the same with 20GB :)

But yeah for most uses it won't be noticeable.

I agree, it won't be noticeable.

I missed the file size entirely, but as you suggested tried it again, but with 32GB.
