Why so expensive??

Bloudy_Parrot

So i lookd up some prizes for win10 keys online and i found some with 120$ and some others with 5$ or 10$ for the home version. So my question is,... Why can you use win10 for free but you need 100$ to buy a key that will just put out the watermark????

It's not just to remove the watermark, there are other features that are disabled, that a windows license enables. Also you're basically paying for Windows, which is an OS that has been developed and 'perfected' for over 3 decades + the 24/7 live support from Microsoft+Security and software updates and all the other features windows comes with.

Ha windows 10 is a mess. not like OSX is any better

it does to more than turn off the watermark. it enables some features and allows you to change some locked out settings.

It's definitely not flawless but far from a mess. I personally rarely have issues with Windows, and when I do and have no idea how to fix them I can always rely on Microsoft's support to fix it for me.

-> Moved to Windows

***

The retail price is actually cheap, not expensive. Not when you compare it to some professional software, like video editors, Illustrator, 3D modelling software and so on. Single-pay license on those is something over $300.

Then consider the use you get out of it, vs for example any game you buy. Say you pay 30% off for AAA game, then play it for 100h. In that time, you have had you Windows on triple that time at minimum. So if you would get Win10 now for $120. Use it for a year, lets say 200 days of usage, 4h per day. Price per hour would be $0.15.

And I'll skip my usual vs hardware pricing here. The short of it, Windows is not expensive.
