3000mhz cl 15 vs 3733mhz cl17 - worth to upgrade?

Hey.

Right now i own corsair vengeance 3000mhz cl 15. Its even worth to consider change them on new Patriot Viper 4 3733mhz cl 17? This swap would cost me about 20$. I dont really want to overclocking ram. Dont have time for test stability.. 

 

My rig 

msi z490 gaming edge wifi

i7 10700k oc to 5.0/noctua dh15. 

rtx 3080.

it's a small improvement to performance, no guarantee that it'll be stable at those speeds but for only $20 more, if you only managed 3600 or 3466 it would be a decent upgrade imo.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

Umm okay? I dont quite understand what you talking about frequency 3466/3600mhz :D. What no guarantee? I will just pick XMP profile for viper 3733mhz cl17 and thats all. So its worth to upgrade for that money (20$)?

many motherboards offer multiple profiles. 3733 is a speed that is not guaranteed to work with XMP, it's pretty fast. If it works, great, but if it doesn't work, your motherboard hopefully has a setting for some lower speeds.

Because you own a 3000Mhz CL15 kit, I would say the upgrade is not worth it. Just attempt to manual OC your current memory kit. Not much to test, if it posts and plays games you are stable. I find it easier than a CPU or GPU OC. Just increase your DRAM voltage to 1.450V, and SOC to 1.100V, and increase your memory speed by single increments.
