New build doesn't go past post

PeterVBelgium

So new build

Asus X570-Pro motherboard

AMD 9 5950X cpu

32 GB 3600Mhz RAM

it goes until press F2 or del to enter bios

if you try this nothing happens

on the motherboard i get an orange DRAM led.

Ram seems to be fine, or all 4 sticks are bad (wich is unlikely)

CPU and RAM have been reseated

simple graph card to install has been switched to

Any ideas?

i think it might be that i need a bios update, but i can't get into the bios to update it, and i don't have an older Ryzen cpu to do this.

Did your motherboard come with a label on the box explicitly saying it ships compatible with Ryzen 5000 series? If not, you likely need to update your BIOS to gain support. Unless the board supports flashing the BIOS without a CPU, you'll need to get your hands on a 3rd gen Ryzen CPU to do a BIOS update with. Not really anything else you can do.

I mostly speak from my own past experience from similar problems. My solution may not work for you, but I'll always try my best to help as much as I can. If you want me to see your reply, make sure to quote my comment or mention me @WaggishOhio383, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

in the booklet it only says 3rd and 2nd gen so i'm afraid i'll have to go to the shop
flash bios without cpu isn't possible on this board :(

funny thing is it went like once to the bios, but that's it.

Yeah, it's unfortunate, but that's really the only option in this case. Unless you want to go and buy an old, used CPU and update the BIOS yourself.

Honestly not sure why it would do that

it did go into the bios once, that's it. Really strange.

i'll just go back to the shop tomorrow to bad it's like an hour drive, i feel like they should have updated it as i bought all there or at least ask me if i had an old cpu to do this, if not offer to do it

Sounds like you need to do a BIOS update.

Go to Best Buy, get the cheapest Ryzen 3000 CPU they have, use it to boot and get your BIOS flashed, then return it and use the 5950X

Dunno what to tell you then. Why is it so difficult to pick up parts in Belgium?

Well stock for 5000 series and new videocards is a problem everywhere

But old 3000 stuff is pretty easy to find

there's a difference in stock, and what we're having.

the first 6000 card still has to reach Belgium, they're not sold out, they haven't been here yet
