Why is GPU-Z reporting slightly more VRAM on my RTX 2070 than there should be?

GPU-Z says my RTX 2070 has 8192 MB of VRAM which is about 8.2 GB, when there should only be 8 GB. Does anyone know if this is normal?

It is normal. 1 gb is measured at 1024mb (binary)

Motherboard tier list. Tier A for overclocking 5950x. Tier B for overclocking 5900x, Tier C for overclocking 5800X. Tier D for overclocking 5600X. Tier F for 4/6 core Cpus at stock. Tier E avoid.

(Also case airflow matter or if you are using Downcraft air cooler)

( You can overclock Tier C just fine, but it can get very loud, that is why it is not recommended for overclocking, same with tier D)

This is a common confusion point due to GB strictly beining multiple of 10, but historically have also been used for powers of 2. e.g. 10^3 is roughly 2^10 but not exactly, and this also applies to higher multiples. So the numbers mismatch at times. It is the correct amount anyway.

It's also attached to Storage.
1024 Megabytes = 1 Gigabyte, not 1.024Gigabytes
Which is why usable drive space is usually lower than actually advertised.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
