Is the E3-1230 V2 enough?

Go to solution Solved by jaslion,

That xeon will help a ton. Do keep in mind facebook is a nasty heavy website so may wanna close that during gaming

So my cousin offered me a trade, here is the deal.
We'll swap CPU+MB and Ill pay him 1000 Php. (Greedy Bastard.) (1000Php is like a month of Electricity+Water Bill here in PH.)

My CPU+MB:

Athlon X4 860K
GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3H

His CPU+MB:

Xeon E3 1230 V2
ASRock Z68 Pro3 GEN3

I usually just play Valorant while YT and FB is running in the background BUT when play Valorant while chrome is open I usually hit 100% load fast ( Running 55-65 Fps)

(Valorant runs 70-80 with no background apps).
That's why I considered his offer.
For context. here's the comparison of My CPU and His CPU respectively.

2C 4T                               4C 8T
L1 64KB                           L1 128KB

L2 4MB                            L2 1MB

                                         L3 8MB

28nm                                22nm

So, is the E3-1230 V2 enough for Valorant 720p Low + YT 720p + Facebook?

IDK,

also he's selling his AMD clip to 115X mounting bracket for 100Php (Again, greedy Bastard).

Also i dont mind running valorant at 60-70 fps cuz im monitor runs only at 75hz. I only want to play valorant with chrome running in the background.

Cheers!

The Xeon will be a vast upgrade. My Xeon X5450/E5450 (4c/4t from 2010) is faster than your Athlon, and is under half the speed of the 1230-v2.

Both in single and multicore the athlon does pull ahead by about 15% which is still pathetic considering how much newer it is compared to a x5450.

Technically it is from 2008, since the desktop version (Q9650) released in 2008 so the gap is even more pathetic.
The Xeon is faster stock for stock, and at 3.6GHz vs 4.5GHz Athlon:

Fair enough I made a mistake there and got a dual core xeon instead of the quad one due to a numbers mistake

Yeah...that's the problem with Xeons - the names are easy to mix up. That's my CB scores have the E3-1220 V2 instead of the 1230 - I was going to buy one for my brother's desktop (it has a 3570K now).
