Windows 10 is fine on older hardware, but it REALLY needs a good SSD and a decent amount of ram.

We have plenty machines at work which are Core2Quad, and some Core2Duo, which run Windows 10, Chrome, MS Access etc all perfectly well.

They do all have at least 8GB of ram and a decent SSD though.

Gaming of course is entirely different story. No 10 year old CPU had onboard graphics that was capable of anything more than running basic windows apps.

If you want to run older games, you'll need to install an actual GPU. Something cheap like a 750ti would likely work well and be a reasonable match for the capabilities of the rest of the machine.

I have a Radeon HD 6570 Graphics

On Linux Mint 20 which has a slower ssd I have Minecraft Java 1.16.4

It runs from 60-70fps which is good

but I can't use my Xbox Live Membership on Linux Mint 20

I forgot to mention that the Windows 10 was recently installed on the ssd

as I installed it with update 2004 1 month before 2004 H2 was released

I just looked up the game on Steam and the requirements are rather low and will work with WinXP.

Get the Game from Steam and you run this using Proton(Wine) on Linux.

But Windows XP is so far outdated that I don't really want to use it because its so old

also Forager I have is on Xbox Live PC membership

But if it was able to run on XP it should of been able to run on my computer

but its $19.99 on steam

I don't want to waste my Xbox Live Membership

its basically the only game of that membership that my computer meets minimum requirements

I just purchased the 3 month membership about a week ago

@boomerangos
You will have to put up with it. My old QX6850 is clocked higher and also struggles to run Windows 10 and modern games well, while my X5450/Q9650 runs it perfectly fine. And your Phenom II based APU was slower single threaded back in the day than the QX6850. image.png.7ecd39d72b8ee5dac49c8672272ea39b.png

Then there is the issue of lacking instructions, which is another reason why Phenom II and anything 65nm+Core 2 really just doesn't do the job anymore.

If you were only web browsing and using office programs that APU would still be fine. My Grandmother went from that Pentium T4200 to the C2D T9400 and saw a huge leap in performance under Windows 10 just with the addition of SSE 4.1 (the Windows 7 to 10 upgrade felt really bad before that).

It's based on a fork of Wine with some extra stuff thrown in. No idea what "api" you're talking about. @whm1974's statement was more accurate than yours.

Thanks. And like I said before, Valve does give back to Wine.
