GrampaBob

Hi I'm just curious on a few opinions.  My sound blaster Z is old but maybe it's still better then onboard sound these days......?

I never paid attention to soundcards, i just know that it worked just fine.

back then i use a external pro dac, after 5 years i compare it to a regular mobo soundcard, turns out i can't figure out the difference.

so since you can use both why don't you just compare it side by side.

Honestly just test them both out. What ever you think sounds better then use it. Only reason why I still use a dedicated sound card is because my motherboard doesn't have an optical out and I still have a use for that. And my motherboard mic input sucks. So that was another reason.

PC Audio Setup = Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro 80 ohm and Sennheiser pc37x (also for xbox) hooked up to Schiit Fulla 3

Thnx for the replies.  I guess I will try to run them both and listen for a difference.

Its a high end motherboard, gigabyte spent some money sourcing parts for the audio section so probably sounds reasonably well.

My personal opinion on sound blaster is they make cheap consumer products in the past their products were utter crap they may have improved over the recent years but I don't care because I'm not going to risk wasting money on their items to find out if they've improved.
