RTX 3080 Lower FPS than expected

NathanDev

Hi all, I recently just got a new computer with pretty good specs:

Processor: Ryzen 9 3900X

Motherboard : TUF gaming x570-plus (Wi-Fi)

RAM : Adata 16gb 3000mhz

GPU : Gigabyte RTX 3080 OC Edition

When looking at videos on youtube with pretty much my same specs (maybe a little more ram or faster speed), people seem to be getting much higher FPS. For instance, when playing Call of Duty Warzone, I have everything set to Max and playing in 1440p at 165hz with my FOV turned up to a 100. I am getting roughly around 118-140 FPS and only get those 140 FPS spikes when i'm in a secluded area. I however see other people getting 200+ FPS while playing on 1440p. Another example is The Division 2, again 1440p 165hz everything set to ultra, i am only getting 80-110 FPS. I know that RTX 30 series were having trouble with their cards and low FPS but could that be whats causing this or do I need to change out something in my build?

Got it I figured the speed might have something to do with it. Would it be better to get a 32GB 3600mhz or would that be too overkill and I can just get 16GB 3600mhz?

Again thank you very the advice!!

hahah I know believe me, I actually ended up having to buy a prebuilt system from Cyberpower because they have a shitton of them in their already built in gaming computers. But I figured hey, I've know how to build and rebuild a computer so might as well buy it and change the parts that I want!

Good question.  I was thinking the same thing as I have been looking for a 3090 since launch day.  I had all my build completed and just sat there waiting for a GPU.  I ended up reaching out to my contacts in Taiwan and got mine that way.  I wouldn't be surprised if there are fewer than 100 RTX 3090 in all of Canada.

Now that I remember, it was a lot of effort for me to get my hand on some parts.

10900K took weeks

Corsair fans took a couple of weeks

PSU...I had to wait a month

My laptop took two months!

I was literally hammering the F5 button for weeks before I finally snagged a 3080 FE from Best Buy. This is one of those cases where you have to be dedicated AND lucky at the same time.
