Asus Prime X470-Pro + Ryzen 7 3800x?

Will the Asus Prime X470-Pro + Ryzen 7 3800x work together or will I need to upgrade my motherboard to be able to support it?

I have all of the parts that are marked as purchased, I want to upgrade my CPU at around the same time that I get the 5700xt

It'll work, just update your BIOS to a version that supports Zen 2.

Also, unless you're getting the 3800X for the same (or lower) price as a 3700X, it's not worth it.

Not sure if boards you buy today are updated for Zen 2, but they were not at launch (since X470 boards launched before Zen 2) so there's a chance you will.

Ok, thanks do you know if I can update the BIOS with a 2700x or will i need a different chip? 
I will look into pricing of the two, thanks for the info.

Sure. 400 series boards (B450 and X470) were launched to support Zen+ (Ryzen 2000) CPUs natively, so you'll be able to update the BIOS with your 2700X.
