Weird “problem” with fans of my psu

ItzRuben

Hi,

I got a working be quiet psu for free from a friend, but there’s one thing I don’t understand.. When flipping the switch on the psu the fans spin for around 2 minutes en than stop. Same thing happens when the pc is just turnt off.

Does anyone know if it’s a defect or a feature?

btw it’s a bqt p5-420w-s1.3

That PSU is more than 15 years old. Free or not it's not worth using such an old PSU.

some psu have thermal venting implemented, and it will keep spinning fans even after you turn off power to cool down PSU.

You realize he gave it to you because he doesn't want to risk using it himself.

It needs to go to an e-waste recycler.
