Motherboard and CPU help (Intel)

I have had some excellent help with planning my new ($700 USD) build but came up short on Intel specific information, I am considering AMD but would like to see what I can get from Intel.

I am looking at getting the i5 10400F and was wondering if it was worth getting integrated graphics for an extra $25 just in case. (I plan on getting a 1660 super)

As for the motherboard I am looking for something cheap yet reliable. WiFi would be nice but it is not ultra important.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you need more information ask and I will provide it or you can dig yourself:

Not worht it. Get a 3600 and a B450 board.  Faster in multicore and more versatile when it comes down to future compatibility and fast CPUs :)

MOBO: b450 A Pro MAX form MSI

FOLDING MONTH 2021! GOGOGO and save on some heating costs 🙂

All I want to know is whether or not integrated graphics is worth it and what would make a decent board for the Intel CPU. I know AMD is better bang for the buck but that does not change my curiosity. Upgrade ability means nothing to me since the only upgrade this will be getting in 8 plus years is storage.

Also the 3600 is out of my price range I am looking sub $200 (originally planned i5 9400F)

integrated graphics isn't worth it, best low-end board that feels your need would be the z490 gaming edge wifi. I should stress that intel is hot garbage atm, if you live near a micro center, the best deal i've seen is a 3600 for 120usd and a 10700k for 200usd (u'll need a beefy cooler with that)

i'd still recommend nothing lower than a 5600x or wait for a 5600 unless you absolute can't wait, or pay 250usd for the 5600. It's worth waiting, would not mess with anything other than zen 3 for new builds.

Thank you for answering my question. From what I have seen the 3600 is stable at the $200 mark as long as it is in stock. I live in nowhere USA so a micro center is out of the question... (not even 100% sure what they are)

Now you have jumped to 5600 and 5600x which I know nothing about and like I said before I am considering both Intel and AMD when it comes to CPU so help figuring those two out in comparison to the 3600 would be great. For instance what does the X mean. I can push $250 for a CPU but nothing higher since it will mostly perform duties an i3 could handle except for the occasional low graphics game.

if an i3 can handle what you do then the 3600+b450 is the best way to go, ample supply, probably gonna be on sale this thanksgiving, short of that a 2600 or a 10400 will do, all about pricing on 6 cores/12threads.

With that established, i'd look for cpu/motherboard combos that are on sale on black friday (probably from newegg), as for ram, i'd get these specific ones, best value and performance, anything cheaper likely isn't worth the 20-30usd savings.

if you do end up going amd, u can just use the included cpu cooler.

the 2600x is 160usd atm and the 10400 is 175usd, 2600x includes a cooler, they are basically about the same, so it's down to ur brand preference, deals likely to come closer to black friday, gl hunting 😄

Thank you for the bargain hunting tips, I didn't know they combo'd chips with motherboards.

I was considering this ram but if I save money elsewhere I might get what you suggested

I was planing on using the stock cooler as long as my case thermals were okay, it has pretty restricted airflow so I might have to do something to compensate.
