Switching to a VESA mount for the first time...

Actual_Criminal

I am thinking of switch to a Vesa mount.

It will make more room for my desk as the stands can get in the way. However, i'm worried about the VESA mount holding up a monitor as i've never tried one.

I currently have an Asus PG258Q which is a 27" monitor and i'm also buying the Samsung G7 27" monitor as well.

-Do the screws come with the VESA mount or does it come with the monitor? (As I threw the box away for my monitor awhile back.)

-Do I need any attachment for the monitors or is it just the mount and all good?

-Is is better to have a 2-in-1 VESA mount or get a VESA mount for each monitor?

-Also, if my monitors are going to be in a static position, will the cheaper one be good enough to hold the weight?

Desk clap will be fine. - Check the max weight supported by the arm / mount.

Wall mount will be fine if installed correctly. - Check the max weight supported by the arm / mount.

If you want a 2 in 1 you need to also check you are well within the max size of each display in addition to the weight.

I use a fairly inexpensive VESA mount on my desk, and it holds up my 12 pound monitor just fine with no issues. Just make sure you aren't right up at the limit of your mount and you should be fine.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

I got a desk clamp VESA mount for 2 monitors. It's fantastic. I can pull, twist and turn my monitors. I can adjust the height of them. I only paid $50 for such a thing.

VESA screws were included but I would make sure if I was you. I'd recommend what I have but I think it's only for sale in Scandinavia, anyway here is the link. https://www.komplett.no/product/836093/datautstyr/skjermer/bord-og-veggfeste/iiglo-skjermfeste-mm200?gclid=Cj0KCQiAwMP9BRCzARIsAPWTJ_G7upXc5obtZ_8WprIWvBTWM_n7lCe8CcCuqwhCJJZ1j0Uzvpqf1MoaAr8UEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Looks good but I need one for UK.

I will have a motorized standing desk so needs to be sturdy too.

Both of your monitors are VESA compatible, although the Asus one may need spacers and longer screws due to limited room in the mounting area for the usual square plate.  The Samsung G7 includes a VESA bracket in the box which must be installed for compatibility.

If you don't plan to move them around, a basic dual monitor mount will work perfectly fine.  Neither monitor is heavy, so just about anything out there should support them.
