PSU cooler

Go to solution Solved by boggy77,

not much you can do. return it and get a better one

hey guys my case fans are all silent but my power supply is an absolute jet engine, how can i make it quiter without putting my pc on carpet etc.. because it is really annoying that everything in my new rig is silent exept my psu (i have tested eg. i put my head in the case and listened to the fans to see if they were loud. they are silent so basically it can only be the psu) here is my pc - its my first ever build and i did it yesterday

What power supply are you using?

it is not the worst, but is pretty loud indeed. also it is not the best. you should replace it. check our tier list and get anything from tier B or above (blue/gold named are pretty silent at load)

Save up and get Seasonic 650W 80+ GOLD GX. It has a silent mode and even without it on its still not loud whatsoever. (A bit expensive at $120, but well worth it)

do NOT put your PC on carpet unless fire is what you want to start

do not choke the intake of your PSU

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

A bit off topic, but

Although correct in current config. The psu could be mounted fan up in this case and be just fine. So you could place it on the carpet
