Dual gpu (amd&nvidia)

Just curious and this may have been posted elsewhere but how much of a pain would it be to install an amd card along side or underneath an nvidia card. Not have the two work together but making it able to swap between the two so I can play around with AMD cards bit still maintain my nvidia card and features when I want them. Like the streaming to shield ect?? Just curious here how big of pain and what possible issues I could see swaping between the active dedicated gpu and also having amd drivers installed alongside nvidia.

Its possible. But it would be an absolute pain in the ass to setup and if you go with it I expect a lot more troubleshooting posts by you on the forum. 

All in all its a bad idea.

I will recommend an NHu12s (or an NHd15 (maybe)) for your PC build. Quote or @ me @Prodigy_Smit for me to see your replies.

absolutely not.

 

Ran 2 GPUs for a while, back to my 1060, the AMD drivers are still installed. I haven't had any issues, and I'm also have my Intel onboard graphics enabled and in use while also have both GPUs ... Not sure why people always say it's going to be trouble. I've done it a few times, and appart from having to install the cards and drivers separately, it's completely painless.

It's not hard at all. I used to do the same thing. Just put in one card install the drivers. Take the card out and put the other in and install the drivers. Then put both cards in and you are good to go.

Ran 2 GPUs for a while, back to my 1060, the AMD drivers are still installed. I haven't had any issues, and I'm also have my Intel onboard graphics enabled and in use while also have both GPUs ... Not sure why people always say it's going to be trouble. The time I tried it, it was basically unusable. Crashes every 5 minutes. However, I had old cards so maybe driver updates fixed it.

Did that years ago with 900 serives nVidia GPUs and HD7000 series AMD GPUs on Windows 7. Last time was on my current rig (i7 8700, 1060 3GB Win 10, and added an R9 290x, did that sometime in 2019).

 

Like I said, how you install the GPUs and drivers is important, but after the installation it shouldn't be an issue.
