Question about the Nvidia Shield

Element921

So, I've been looking at buying both a Shield and an Android tablet recently. But I just realized, doesn't the Shield run Android regardless? So I was wondering, does the Shield limit the Android OS in any way, or will I still be able to do pretty much anything I could do on a normal tablet?

The Shield does not limit the Android OS in any way, other than the keyboard being less than desirable.

Pretty much stock Android.

Haha, didn't expect Linus himself to respond. Thanks then, I think I'll go for just the Shield rather than buying both a tablet and a Shield.

I would much prefer a Shield over a regular tablet just because I tend to be away from my PC a lot, and having something to play my PC games on away from home would be quite nice. I've also got a discount on it since I bought a GTX 770, so I have an excuse lol

i love my shield, its the longest ive had an android device and playing games on it is AWESOME especially emulators, ive been playing metal gear solid 1 on it :) so good

it also has a specific store build in that dispays games and apps that have full shield controls, sure you can use the play store aswell because you can use the built in touch screen mapping to map the buttons to any touch screen controls, even swipes - it works REALLY well , just hold Start |> for a few seconds on any program and drag the control over the touch button and bam, works a treat
