Is this PSU strong enough

xReqt

Hi,

Im planning a build for my younger brother and I have this kolink 500w psu that is currently in his old build https://www.overclockers.co.uk/kolink-modular-power-500w-80-plus-bronze-modular-power-supply-ca-04h-kk.html is this okay for a 570(8GB) i5 7400 2TB HDD 5,4K 16GB 2133Mhz (2x8) along side 3 fans 120mm. (Parts I already own)

I am aware its not the greatest but my budget won't allow me to change it until around March 2021 will it last long or not.

Thanks

500W should be completely fine for that build, but i'd recommend going with a much more reputable brand. You can get a 500W 80+ Bronze EVGA BR for $10 more. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/kCtQzy/evga-br-500w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-100-br-0500-k1

for Rx 570 and i5 7400 it will be fine.

but before you upgrade your gpu to stonger one (or the cpu) you should get better psu first.

You could get ryzen 5 5600x and still be fine with that psu since Ryzen does not consume much Power. But anyways it will work.

@SavageNeo Thanks for your response highly appreciated, I understand the Kolink has no OCP but for such a budget system this shouldn't be an issue (I plan on keeping this rig for least a year or two eventually if needed going to 720p for 60fps+ I doubt that'll come down to that) am I correct in thinking this?

those parts use less than 250w power so you will be fine with it.

@SavageNeo I have yet to build it but he plans on playing games around 1080p (900p for intense games if necessary) he has a 75hz monitor so that's the goal fps wise (75 for most games)

The games being played will be

Call of duty Cold war and Warzone

Rust (Stretched res 1280x960)

Minecraft (Server based with 2k players)

I know for the less gpu/cpu intense games such as Minecraft he'll get over 100 even with some graphics set to high but Rust and the Call of duty games (Warzone in particular) will hopefully run 1080p 70-75 fps verylow-low settings. The goal is 75+ fps and hopefully this will achieve that even on low settings 1080p

for 1080p 75hz, Rx 570 should get around 75fps or high or ultra settings on most AAA titles too.

cpu intensive games. the cpu is the weak link for these games. it should still run around 75fps on high(ish) settings. my 7400 and 1050 ti (1050ti is worse than rx 570) gets around 60fps on high/max  settings at warzone.

@SavageNeo Warzone currently broke there game for many users for instance I have a i7 8700 2070 super and only get 100-120 max fps on low settings. For Rust I will probably try graphic quality 1 and rest low for the best experience as he likes  to play Modded (10x gather) which there are around 300 players on at a time with his current rig he gets around 30-40 frames which purely for competitive titles ain't good enough. Every game under 75 fps I will purely 720p it and put on AA for make it look HD quality again.

Warzone is cpu instensive so you have cpu bottlneck. wiht my main system with 5700XT and r7 3700x and i can get 130-140fps on high/ultra, but only around 140-145 on low since my cpu is the bottleneck, warzone uses a lot of my cpu.

you will bottleneck hard since rtx 3080 is 4k gpu. on 1080p it has very small difference compared to 3070 (since modern cpus are not fast enough).

no. Bottlenecking means that some of your components can not reach it's max potential. No harm in it other than you could achieve more fps if you minimalize the bottleneck.

@SavageNeo How much bottleneck will there be if I do 1440p 144hz instead of 1080p. I don't want anything crazy like a 10 FPS decrease something along the lines of 4-5 wouldn't be awful.

1440p 144hz

not that much. mayby a little. with the rtx 3080 you should be able to push over 144 frames at warzone and on otehr titles. mayby not at all AAA titles on ultra settings. anyway 1440p makesm ore sense than 1080p

QUOTE ME  FOR ANSWER.

@SavageNeo I will play 1080p until March 2021 then il buy a 1440p monitor (My funds will be short until then I need time to recover after buying a 1500 pound PC) lol. If I was to play 1440p I'd always do medium with textures high to push over 144 as for warzone some area's decrease FPS quite alot.
