NZXT 650W 80+ Bronze HALE82-650-M 650W for RTX 3070

dulkenyut

Hi All, I am running on:
Intel Core i5 7600
2x 8GB DDR4
1 HDD
1 NVMe
NZXT 650W 80+ Bronze HALE82-650-M 650W

I am going to upgrade my PC, but now I have my first item RTX 3070 on my hand and I can't wait to run it.

Do you guys think it is safe to plug in to my current system? Of course it is my PSU that I am in doubt

Thank you

yes you can but if the power supply is too old then i would not recommend it i would upgrade to an 800 wat power supply for an rtx 3070 and it will be bottlenecked by your i5

The HALE82 seems to be a completely capable psu for the 3070, but how old is it?

Pretty sure the Hale82 was released in 2012. Sure, you might've bought it in 2016, but it's a very old PSU model. Pretty sure it's similar to the Seasonic M12II, which is a double forward and DC-DC PSU, with Passive Rectification on the 12V rail. It's not a bad PSU for it's time, but I wouldn't use it with a 3070. Now whether it's safe or not, I don't know, but I wouldn't risk it and would change your PSU. At least Tier B or higher on the list.
