Streaming discord audio , massive static .

StonerNixon

I’ve been asking on like 30 different post . There’s literally zero reason my audio should sound like it dose , I have friends that stream and discord audio is perrrrrfectly fine . It’s just me . And mine . And I’m going to fucking snap soon. Most recent video , watch at the very end if there’s nothing at the beginning. I just ended the stream because of the audio issues , I heard the issues and ended so I know there in that stream .

It’s nothing to do with my system because the problem persists across two different machines

If you capture discord audio through a software like audacity does it sound fine? Have you tried recording discord audio in OBS with just the audio source and does that sound fine?

@NinJake I have record with streamlabs obs , and just regular obs . Haven’t tried audacity yet but I can. And what do you mean by just the audio source ? I probably haven’t done that cause idk what you mean mate

I'm assuming you've got scenes set up with other video sources. What if you just record a black screen with the discord audio in the background?

Only one scene with one video source , and that’s the game capture . I have 5 scenes in total . Can i just add another one and leave it blank and will that work for the test?

If you have the option to create a new scene just using audio capture, see if that works for capturing just discord audio. If that doesn't work you should still be able to capture the desktop audio (all audio playing through your default audio device).

I may be wrong, but isn't that just someone with a crappy mic or lots of background noise?

@NinJake @tikker yes it’s a shitty headset . But this headset has never sounded like this before. Now there is sooooooooo much static that my streams are literally in watchable . I’m streaming yet again today , look and the audio . I’m literally about to just give up and sell the fucking computer

Maybe it just kicked the bucket?

Do those two machines have your microphone in common?

I think it's good to do a simple check like @NinJake suggested. Go back to basics and just hit record in OBS for a bit then check what it sounds like. No game, no discord, just record yourself. Then you can go from there.

Is your microphone plugged in via usb or an analog audio jack? Honestly I'd try recording in audacity over OBS as it should use even less system resources.

All that is is background noise, you need to fix your levels or use PTT, you're not going to delete that background noise.
Turn down your mic, bring it closer to your mouth and use PTT or if you really want to use voice activation get a noise removal plugin like BRUSFRI.

All I have to do to create that sound with my really nice mics is turn them all the way up and stand a few feet back.

Yeah that does sound like background noise to me. I'm guessing you have it turned up a lot as well? That could be why it sounds 10x worse on stream.  @The Flying Sloth has the solutions.

Sloth has pretty much answered this, but the ideal "Gain Chain" is having the earliest things the very loudest they can be. So your voice has to be very loud, the microphone quieter, the pre-amp even quieter etc.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)
