I was thinking of upgrading to 9th gen intel or 10th gen was not 100% sure yet or if I should even bother upgrading.

System specs:

i7 3770

16Gb ram

256Gb ssd boot

500gb ssd game storage

GTX 1650

Windows 10 pro

I play World of Warcraft,  World of War Ships, War thunder but have been trying newer games the system does still seem to run most things on medium or low well at 1080p I was hoping to get things running maxed out at 1080p or 1440p but my current monitor will need a upgrade for 1440p as the current one is 1080p 120hz.

Does your pc leave you wanting more frames? If no, then no need to upgrade.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

I'd probably go Ryzen, as the 5600x will likely outpace the 10600k (though, obviously wait for benchmarks).

If you're aiming for maxed settings or 1440p, you'd definitely need an upgrade.

When do you plan on buying a new monitor? If it's not anytime soon, or you're not super unhappy with your experience now, it always pays to wait.

If you have the money now, Black Friday is almost here and is generally the best time to buy. Especially since you'd need new everything.

Probably upgrade.

Though, unless you have to stick with Intel for some reason, consider going AMD.

Especially since their 3rd gen chips should be super cheap on Thursday.

I don't think we'll see that much of a reduction in pricing. They're already significantly cheaper than their MSRP, which was already cheaper than the new chips.

Waiting might not be bad for deals I could get 1151 board i5 9400f and 16gb ddr4 3000 for under $350 Canadian new with current pricing I have not looked at AMD in some time might be a good time soon. I know the 3770 is getting long in the tooth and even the 1650 pushes the cpu some when I go past medium I know the 1650 is not the best gpu but it replaced a very sleepy 660Ti on the cheap but I was figuring replace the parts that have no more upgrade path and go from there. As I am sure the 3770 is holding the 1650 back some.

I still use a 1650 xeon which is Sandy Bridge with a 5700xt, and while I can tell that the CPU is holding the GPU back a little in some games it hasn't been enough for me to say I need a new system.

If you are wanting a 1440p 60 experience then I don't think your CPU will hold it back too much (even more so if it's overclocked but you didn't say). I only got a 75 hz monitor for me because I knew I wouldn't be pushing high frame rates with my CPU, and I'm more of a maximum quality gamer. I don't see the point in buying a 144hz monitor if I need to turn down settings.

You could always just get a GPU and monitor now and try it out and if it's not living up to what you want you can upgrade the rest.
