Will Zen 3 come with new motherboards?

Freddy

So yes I know that it will use a socket AM4 and it will work with previous MB, but I was wondering if they will launch a new series of at least updated motherboards with the new CPUs.

As of now I don't know why the intel motherboards look better compared to AMDs in terms of looks. (Have not looked into features)

For me it will not be a deal breaker if that's the case as long as the CPUs give the performance that they said and they outperform Intels new CPUs.

They haven't announced any new motherboards as far as I'm aware, they might release them next year or simply stick with the 500-series boards because they are not lacking in any way in terms of features, it'd be smarter to not release new boards so they could launch the next 6000-series CPUs with 600-series motherboards with potentially a new socket.

Do they have a time frame as to when that is? We talking 2021 or 2022?

Are you talking about the 6000-series CPUs? they haven't confirmed a date and according to their roadmap it is anywhere between 2021-2022

Considering how late Zen 3 is releasing this year, I'd say Zen 4 would more likely be towards the very end of 2021 as well and potentially into 2022.

the 550s and the x570s were designed with the 5000 cpu in mind its really a question on how fast before the 6000 cpu will be on the market and yes they said it would be a new socket as the 6000 was the last am4 socket

No. I don't think so, X570 and B550 chipsets are designed for 5000 series.

And with the revealing of 6000 gpu, we all see what's AMD had in mind for totally RED build.

CMIIW, this is the first time a company offers a complete DIY set CPU+MB+GPU - with optimizations, if ever (well not including apple or intel onboard graphics).

Chipset is time consuming to develop, that's why they sub contract it to ASmedia (subsidiary of ASUS).

I see no reason why AMD would develop another AM4 chipset, maybe they are preparing for DDR5 chipset right now.

What I wonder is this:

Ryzen 5 1600x + B350

Ryzen 5 2600x + B450

Ryzen 5 3600x + B550

Ryzen 5 5600x + B550

Why, AMD? Why?

You couldn't have done 1600X + B150, 2600X + B250, 3600X + B350, 5600X + B550?

First Ryzen board's naming scheme was to gain traction, at the time Intel had B250 and Z270, so they released B350 and X370 making it seem like it is superior to the majority of people who were unaware of AMD, It's a smart play in my opinion, and now that they've surpassed Intel, they can sync up their naming schemes with 5000-Series CPUs and 500-Series Motherboards and so on.
