I have an external SSD downloading a game... Normally if you shutdown pc it carries on... Will it do the same if i unplug or shutdown or loose wifi???

WolfLoverPro

So im downloading a game through the launcher. Now normally if you loose wifi, shutdown pc it will continue it will resume

Now... I have a bad feeling that if i unplug or loose wifi or turn of my pc it will forget since its external and im downloading straight onto the external ssd btw.

Or will it be fine and continue even if i shutdown my pc in middle way??

Extending on.... my ssd gets warm while playing games. is this normal? I never felt my desktop ssd so maybe it is normal however i want to check. i mean my iphone gets hotter playing games than this because it dont get hot at all its just warm kind of like a hot water bottle getting cool. is this normal?

It's exactly the same as an internal drive unless you change the drive label. If you plug in something else it might "steal" the label from your drive and in that case it won't work.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

I guess it should work the same as a normal hdd but i just tthought if its usb not uh sata whether it would idk work different.

It it dont even matter if i was to unplug it half way through the download and plug it back in it would just continue?

It would probably tell you that it can't find your games folder anymore...

It will interrupt the download in some form if its actively downloading when you unplug it.

Depending on whatever is doing the downloading determines whether or not it will automatically resume.

So some software may see its gone, and stop.

Some software may see its gone and pause, wait, and resume when it comes back.

Some software will stop and prompt you to replace the drive or simply prompt to retry/cancel/continue.
