Hey guys,

So I recently trash picked a Asus ROG G20 and it fired right up. I threw a WD Black into it and now its my main rig. I am a youtuber and when I am editing youtube videos the fan revs all the way up to the maximum speed and the computers performance becomes worse. I suspect its overheating but I have no way of knowing this. Should I be worried? If yes, what steps should I take to cool it down?

I would prefer not to install any software to check my cpu temps. I'm kind of a neat-freak and dislike unessesary software. Even if it isnt overheating (Which im pretty sure it is) it wouldnt hurt for it to run cooler.

If you don't want to install any software to monitor temperature you could take the panels off to see if the CPU is not throttling. Installing HWInfo64 would really make it easier to monitor things without getting a thermal monitoring devices.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3950X   Motherboard: MSI X570 Gaming Edge Wifi   Case: Deepcool Maxtrexx 70   GPU: RTX 3090   RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3x16GB 3200 MHz   PSU: Super Flower 850W

Well I mean I'm not looking for a precise answer I just want a general answer on how to cool it down. I thought you could help me with this as I have little experience with computers compared to someone on LTT.com

Well im thinking before I do anything I should de-dust it and repaste it. Neither of those things have probably been done for 5+ years of continous use

Take it apart and remove dust and add new thermal grease?

Ah fuck this I will look elsewhere for basic knowledge. Many other people are willing to help me.

Wow, litterally everyone else mentioned a monitoring software (which you could uninstall btw). I'm a-ok with not helping you if you wont give any useful info.
