Overcloked ot 4.9ghz but only goes to 3.9ghz under load??

Hi all,

 

I have a 7700K and I believe I have done the overclocking correctly in the bios but for some reason it only boosts to 3.9ghz under load like in gaming and stress testing. When I stop stress testing I see the cpu does hit 4.9ghz but only breifly. Weird. What can I check?

Check temperatures first, since you did not mention the cooling system in the signature.

Cinebench R15 Single thread:168 Multi-thread: 833 

SuperPi (v1.5 from Techpowerup, PI value output) 16K: 0.100s 1M: 8.255s 32M: 7m 45.93s

Run HWiNFO. It will show you the reasons for throttling. The turbo power limits might need to be set higher in the BIOS.

Using an NH-D15. Gets to 77°c at the fan setting i have.

Okay, I'll check that out.
