Blue Blinking Light on MSI Motherboard

i recently switched my PC to a different case. i plugged everything back in, it turns on fine, everything is working as normal. but there is a blue blinking light in the top left corner. it seems to have no pattern to its blinking whatsoever. any ideas of what this is? this light was not blinking in the old case. it could be something with the BIOS settings, but i just don't know what.

also, is this an issue? is this some sort of warning light?

It's by the 8-pin EPS connector...so I'm guess it is the status LED for that power cable/connector.

Which MSi motherboard is that (model #) ?

Its the MSI P55A-G55. i had a choice between plugging in a 8 pin connector, and a 2 4-pin connector. i plugged in the 8 pin as shown in research. should i have gone for the 2 4-pin connector?

 

just now, it stopped blinking and has remained on, but it didn't do this in the old case.

Doesn't matter.

4+4 is just a modular / flexible version of the solid 8-pin.

Some motherboards require 8-pins, some require only 4-pin, while some heavy overclocking boards are 8 + 4 pins.

 

Oh...just checked the  MSI P55A-G55 user manual...

That is an 'APS LED.'

Basically...indicator on how many CPU power phases (the VRMs) the CPU is using on the motherboard.

 

 

That old board had a 3+1 VRM phase set-up.... 3 being dedicated for the CPU, and 1 for the memory.

Just to show how many out of 3 is being used.

 

(Compared to high-end board these days...that have 10+ phases dedicated for the CPU alone)
