AMD has apparently released a bios update to support zen 3 before it was released, if the board happened to ship with an old bios and it didn't support zen 3's agesa code, if it has a bios flashback button, you can update the bios without having a cpu installed.

What board are you looking at/ have  exactly?

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

Yea the board has a bios flashback button on the rear IO, if you have it/ ordered it and it happened to ship with the old bios, you can just update the bios without having a cpu installed.

You basically don't need anything...just power to the motherboard, and a USB stick with the BIOS file copied + prepped on it.

Don't even need CPU, RAM, Graphics Card, SSD/HDD...

USB BIOS Flashback is not new, just didn't hit mainstream until more recently.

Back then, only top-of-the-line ASUS ROG motherboards had it.

Now MSi / Gigabyte / AsRock are starting to add this feature to THEIR own boards.

My ASUS ROG Crosshair V Formula from 2012/2013  had it.

Supposedly the previous Gen 2010/2011 Crosshair IV Extreme had it too, my Crosshair IV Formula did not...

ok so just to make sure i can just put my psu and motherboard on the case and plug in the 24 pin and the 8 pin and then put the usb on the motherboard and by pressing the flash button the bios should be updated?

Yep.

Well...you don't even NEED a case hahaha.

Motherboard + PSU on top of a table or the motherboard cardboard box will do.

There is a specific USB port on the back of the motherboard to use for USB BIOS Flashback.

Plug the USB stick in, and press the button.

Step by step instructions should in the motherboard user manual...

Depends on what board you eventually get....buuuut...ASUS has instructions online.

You may not even have to, if you build it and it doesn't boot because of an unsupported cpu then you can update the bios, the board may also ship with the new bios that supports the AGESA code for zen 3.

Well there's no clear way of knowing, if it boots correctly then it obviously does.

afaik, you need the eps power and the 24 pin connected and that's it, iirc, a monitor or mouse and keyboard are not needed.
