is there a way to overlclock my asus 360hz monitor?

Compare the values of 1/60, 1/75, 1/120, 1/144, 1/165, 1/240, 1/360 and 1/480 and tell me how likely is it that you'd notice a difference of 0,69 milliseconds.

The difference is 0.69ms between each frame if your game can actually run at a perfectly stable 480FPS.

Thats less of a difference than going from 144Hz to 165Hz which is 0.88ms.

 

Even if you could OC the 360Hz you will never be able to OC as high as 480Hz, you are very lucky if you can get at least 20Hz extra from the monitor.

 

Yes, you can try it, if you have an NVIDIA card just open the NVIDIA Control Panel then on the left go to Change Resolution -> Customize... -> check the Enable resolutions not exposed by the display -> Create Custom Resolution -> change the Hz there and save.

 

If it won't work you will have a black screen for few seconds then it whould rever to normal as the OC failed.

Pretty sure the panel wont be able to go to 480hz.

MAYBE you can OC it by a couple of hz, but even then the response times probably wont be able to keep up and it will most likely look worse than before

Yeah urm that would be bad the LCD response time is just not there.

just tried it out and all i got is an extra 3hz... i know its not much but should i keep 363hz? is there any drawbacks?

Just run it stock man.

No human will ever be able to tell a 3hz difference when youre over 360hz. Also there could be frame skipping, you can test it here: https://www.testufo.com/frameskipping

360hz is already at the limits, (beyond it in most cases) of what the pixels can handle in regards to transition speeds.

Consider that the average 'real' pixel response time of even the fast monitors is over 3ms (not taking into account a full 100% transition including overshoot), at 360hz ur already trying to refresh faster than the pixels can reach their target.

 

If u measure the 'full' transition, including accounting for overshoot, then most monitors, even the fast ones, have a 'real' average pixel response of over 5ms. That's just fast enough for 200hz.

 

So asking to OC over 360hz, is pointless with current LCD displays.

try to see how high you can OC it, I think that 480 is a bit high but you may be able to get 400 hertz
