It's already been released. The 1TB ($229.99) model has been sold out since release, the 250GB ($89.99) and 500GB ($149.99) models are much more widely available. 2TB model reportedly coming by the end of 2020, no announced price.

given the 980 pro is really just a 980 evo. as it drops 2-bit MLC for TLC, which was the nice thing about the 970 pro over the 970 evo.

might not be any evo variant, as there really isnt anything to remove for a Evo variant.

tho i dont really suggest going for these expencive drives, unless you know you need what they offer. also Phison E18 is right around the corner, i dont see a reason to drop money on the 980 pro. and for normal people, SM2262EN, SN750 and Phison E12 are pretty cheap (as in at least one is cheap)

Likely some future QLC variant.  If they push the speeds and reliability it wouldn't be all that bad.  Current QLC is seriously behind on both and really only has a decent price advantage at 4TB.

Well 980 Pro is much cheaper now for a Pro line since they switched to TLC his time. Who knows about Evo will they make it QLC eventually and QVO PLC haha.
