How much total storage does your PC have?

GamerBlake

2.2TB of SSDs. I found my storage requirements to go down a LOT by uninstalling games I never play. Any large files (video etc.) gets moved to over storage locations on network.

I am looking forward to building a new gaming system to take me through the next 2+ years, and I think I'll aim to go for a single 2TB SSD in that.

Main system: i9-7980XE, Asus X299 TUF mark 2, Noctua D15, Corsair Vengeance Pro 3200 3x 16GB 2R, RTX 3070, NZXT E850, GameMax Abyss, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, Acer Predator XB241YU 24" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync + HP LP2475w 24" 1200p 60Hz wide gamut
Gaming laptop: Lenovo Legion 5, 5800H, RTX 3070, Kingston DDR4 3200C22 2x16GB 2Rx8, Kingston Fury Renegade 1TB + Crucial P1 1TB SSD, 165 Hz IPS 1080p G-Sync Compatible

be careful about filling up ssd's as they slow down drastically as they reach getting completely filled.

Also i would never have a single ssd drive, ssd's can die without you even knowing so always aim to get some sort of other storage medium even if its cloud storage just for backup of important files.

I currently have about 750GB free of the 2200GB or so total capacity. So I don't think a 2TB SSD will be any problem in that respect. Main reason for going single SSD next time is so I don't have to manually balance storage.

I would also add some of that capacity is Optane, so is not limited by the weaknesses of flash based storage.

It is unclear if you're saying I shouldn't have a single SSD in a new system, which I'd disagree with. Anything more is unnecessary complication. Drives have got bigger/cheaper over time. The main reason I have multiple drives is that at the time of purchase, anything beyond 1TB was much more expensive per capacity. The oldest SSD I think is about 5 years old now.

If you meant you should have backups, that applies to any storage. I did mention I have other storage locations on my network, but didn't go into detail since this thread was implied about the main use PC.

For me:

- OS drive: 960GB Kingston A400 2.5 inch SATA SSD. Windows 10 and Ubuntu 20.04LTS resides in here.

- Data drive: 750GB Hitachi TravelStar 2.5inch SATA HDD (salvaged from old laptop). Most of my data is here, as well as backup of document, photo, music, etc... files.

- Game drive: 2TB Seagate Barracuda 3.5 inch SATA HDD. As the name suggest, it is where all my games are installed to.

- Video drive: 4TB Toshiba X300 desktop 3.5inch SATA HDD. As the name suggest, it is where I store all my video files, including camcorders, DSLR, and stream captures.

I have ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). More info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism_spectrum

I apologies if my comments or post offends you in any way, or if my rage got a little too far. I'll try my best to make my post as non-offensive as much as possible.
