RTX 2080 Strix degraded suddenly?

Noah0302

Hi guys,

recently my RTX 2080 Strix started blackscreening and ramping fans randomly. Sound still works at this point, so Im guessing its only my GPU that crashes.

I was running it at +1000 on memory and +100 on the core for about 2 years now and it never once crashed!

Thats why I was wondering if I could have hit the point where my usual OC is not stable anymore...

Has anyone made similair experiences with their GPU?

Could it have been a driver update? IK sometimes they can make OCs less stable.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Happened on 2 different drivers now. Maybe Ill try to roll back to a previous one, where the GPU was stable.

Thanks for the suggestion!

my card has a different stock memory clock with rtx voice on and off, and whenever the tensor cores are used in general. check if the actual memory clock change or just try +800 to be safe.

Interesing, did not think about the impact of tensor cores.

Yes it did change, checked it with EVGA Precision X1 and HWinfo. Ill do some more testing today with different memory speeds, RTX voice on and off and different core clocks.

Thanks for the reply
