Increase system shared memory

I have Intel hd graphics arrandale and it show the system shared memory is 1696Mb. I have 4GB ram, is there any way to increase the system shared memory?

I am running Phoenix BIOS.

Decrease the vram. Adding more to a intel hd gpu is pointless and will make your games run worse as you already only have 4gb of ram and 1/3 is already taken by the gpu creating a pretty big problem for windows that needs more ram.

Not dedicated vram, thats 64mb, I'm talking about System shared memory.

I'm aware. System shared memory gets reserved and will stop windows form using it until absolutely necessary. So decrease it to a more sensible size of 512mb and get some performance improvements.

The integrated graphics is not powerful enough to make use of more than around 1 GB of textures or other data, so the already configured 1.6 GB of memory the video card is allowed to take is more than enough.

With games that would work on the integrated graphics, you would have to set the game graphics quality to high or very high and get unplayable fps to use that much ram on the video card.

 

So you'll be better off to reduce the shared memory to 1 GB or even less (but 1 GB would have the most compatibility with all games, some games may refuse to start if the card has less than 1 GB) and configure the graphical settings in your games to a lower quality preset which will give you higher fps.

 

Some games will actually be much faster simply because you make more memory available to the game's engine, and reduce swapping to hard drive.
