Hello everyone guys, i have this PC ryzen 7 3700x, rx 5700 xt powercolor triple fan edition, mobo asus tuf gaming x570 plus, 16gb ram 3200mhz, ssd samsung 860 evo 512gb, psu corsair cx 550 gold rated, monitor omen hp 25 144hz and 2nd monitor an old asus 60hz.

So my questions are since i play apex legends and stream from the same pc my game fps always drops under 90 when my pc can easily make 144+ fps i tried all the solutions possible and nothing but today some friends told me that it could be because of the old 2nd monitor plugged to the rx 5700 xt with my main monitor, so i was wondering since i have a spare gtx 1050 2gb can i plug it on my motherboard and connect the 2nd monitor on the gtx 1050 or is it just a stupid idea since i dont know too much about these stuff.

I just wanna play at 144fps ( all in game settings are low) and stream it at the same time.

Streamlab obs settings are encoder CPU, 6000 bitrate profile fast, 900p and everything works fine no stream laggy ecc.

My cpu and gpu usage are always at max 74% temperature aswell always under 78 degrees

That won't make any difference.

Check clockspeeds, temps and resources

Is your ram in a 2x8GB config? In dual channel?

A second display maybe if at all has 1 fps difference. What DOES matter is what is displayed on the secondary display. If it's something that uses the gpu like youtube, twitch,... then it will matter. Also 74% is odd means the gpu is not fully used.

on the 2nd display i just have streamlab to check the chat and other stuff with performance mode on so no preview on streamlab, and yes the gpu max usage was 74% with all low settings in apex legends and 1680x1050 resolution

Any cores at 100%? Are you using your cpu to encode?

wouldnt help to help run the 2nd display, doesnt make much of a difference

but if you plan to use NVENC instead of CPU encode, then it'll be some difference.

but im not sure if i recommend doing that, esp with that PSU (iirc, green label = bad)

software x264?

what CPU preset?

probably CPU bound

no the PSU i found it its a corsair cx550m full modular, and i dont really mind for encoding on NVENC if that helps to solve the problem, right now streamlab settings are x264 cpu preset fast

check individual CPU thread usage, not over all usage

see if there are any threads pinned above 85%, if yea then it's CPU being overloaded probably

you could try using AMD's hardware encoder but it sucks, quality wise

so theres nothing bad if i plug a amd card with a nvidia and what about the drivers, if possible can you link a tutorial just to not do something stupid xD

driver wise, there can be a problem to have both vendors' driver in the same OS

never had to do this so no comments on the experience, but i can see it having some issues

yes this one just that when i bought it there were the option for a fully modular one, and i already tried amd encoder and its really bad especially for apex legends that is a fast peaced game, and for the threads to test just do a normal benchmark to check it or when im running the game and streaming

yea thats the only thing im worried about the both drivers on the same system unless i install the drivers on the HDD since the OS and amd drivers and on the SSD

yeah that's to be expected from AMD's encoder

that doesnt help, it's still running both at the same time

you could do an image of your SSD to your HDD, and if you have a spare HDD, install windows with the software to write the image back to SSD just in case something goes wrong as a backup

then install nvidia driver and both GPU to test

though, i'm not too sure if 550W is enough to run everything, better ask for more opinions

imo, it should be enough, but im not a PSU expert.

i already asked someone a while ago about this and he said its fine cause the gtx 1050 2gb doesnt need any other extra power from the PSU.
and about the drivers im gonna go look at some videos to have a better idea

still gonna draw ~75W from the PCIE slot, it's not insignificant

That's odd, as it should be on-par with NVENC for visual fidelity. What exact settings did you use for it?

when it's performing worse than software x264 fast preset by a significant margin, that's to be expected.

unless OBS found someone else to optimise it better, because their person in charge of it left

Not on the AMD hardware encoder in teh 5700XT.

OBS doesn't use the AMD hardware encoder anymore unless you manually install the libraries for it, and then tweak the settings to run it properly. (and even then it's buggy, but not worse performance or visual quality)

well you're not the first to tell me that AMD have good encoder, but just bad software so it may be true

but i'm still gonna stick with nvenc for recording on OBS, or software x264 if i dont have nvenc, until someone works on the ANC or w/e AMD's encoder is called to integrate it better.

It's called VCN 2.0 on the 5700XT. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_Core_Next
