Good Budget MoBo for A10-5800K/6800K or i3-4130

I'm thinking of purchasing and building a decent budget computer ($400-500)

Currently, I'm in between A10-5800K/6800K and the i3-4130. I don't intend to purchase a dedicated graphics card and won't be playing intensive games on it (probably just simple games such as League of Legends and Minecraft)

Is there a big gap in performance between the A10-5800K/6800K and i3-4130?

Besides the point of the processor, what would be a recommendation for a cheap decent budget motherboard for the processors? I live in the US

If you're going to be doing any gaming at all I'd go AMD. There are a few things to consider when buying motherboards like number of RAM and PCI slots. If you don't care too much about those this seems to be a great board for the price at the moment, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130746. Also you may want to consider a cheaper Athlon 750k or 760k and a cheap graphics card, you'll probably get much better performance for the money.

the athlon 760k seems like a much better option.

You can pair it with cheap memory and discrete gpu.

The 6800k doesnt seem good value for the money, you would also need fast ram

What is your budget?

I said $400-500 in my opening post

Is there a big difference between the A78 and A88X chipset?

Because from the details page, the two motherboard seems the exact same but the A78 chipset one is ~$10 cheaper (I'm not considering the 10% off promo code because i'm not buying it right away)

what kind of graphics card would you recommend with the antlon 750K/760K while keeping the budget under $500 (after tax; so before tax, it would be around $450)

which graphics card do you recommend then? I was just going to get some 1600 MHz RAM with the system

currently, i have the stuff planned for my build (not taking into consideration for discounts/rebates/etc):

case: Rosewill Line-M: $50

PSU: Corsair CX430M: $50

HDD: Western DIgital Blue 1TB: $60

RAM: G.Skill 4GB 1600 MHz RAM: $45

Processor: AMD Athlon 760K: $90

Motherboard: MSI A88X-E35: $65 or MSI A78-E35: $57

DVD Drive: $20

Keyboard/Mouse Set: Logitech MK270: $25

that adds up to ~$400; with tax, that's around $440. which leaves only enough money for a $50 graphics card

There's little difference between the 5800k and 6800k in graphical power and they are both quite better than the i3.

For the difference between chipsets: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_AMD_chipsets

i suggest this. especially for the games you play where core speed is important.also its it handles every other games really good

as cpu only, the i3 is better than those. but apus have better graphics than i3. however your budget fits a dedicated gpu so don`t consider apus.

is the i3-4130 a lot better than the apu's on the cpu side? or just slightly better?

do you have a cheaper recommendation for a graphics card?

well if you want cheaper get 760K. but mmos and rpgs are cpu bound, thats why i recommended a better cpu. a cheaper recommendation is r7 260X but any lower than that, get an apu.bad price/performance

How bout this?:  http://pcpartpicker.com/p/36pbt

It will go slightly over the $500 mark if you include about a 10% tax, but includes the optical drive and mouse/keyboard combo.

If you want to lower the price you could choose a lower end card like the R7 260x and/or take out the optical drive.

what about an A10-6800K vs an Athlon 760K + R7-240?

I really don't need a lot of graphics power. Should I worry about power consumption too?

If you are definitely not gaming the latest titles at 1080p then go AMD.   A10-7700 (£105) and something like the Asus A88XM-PLUS (£50).   You can always throw in a discrete GPU at a later date if you change your gaming habits.  [beats an Athlon 760K + R7-240]

If you're not going to be purchasing a discrete GPU than the A10-6800k would be your sweet spot. Grab some 2400 MHz memory and a motherboard that supports it and you'll be a happy camper. Otherwise if you do plan on going discrete buy the i3-4130 and you wont need to upgrade the CPU in the future.

Here are a few A10-6800k combo's that could save you a few bucks.
