MacBook Pro 2010 17'' RAM question

Hello there gentlemen!

I want to change my current RAM in my MacBook Pro 2010 17'' from 4 GB to 8 GB.  But what type of RAM should i prefer? Does the new RAM has to have 1067 MHz, or does it not matter?

Best regards!

Mikkel

It should be 1066MHz (yes, it's 1066) like the RAM in the Mac. Also, try to get it from the same brand.

You could also go the more expensive route and buy an 8GB kit.

Pure Wings 3 | Case: Sliger SM580 (Black) | PSU: Lian Li SP 850W

According to the support site:

4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM; supports up to 8GB.

I would crack it open to see what it has and match it up.

You can also put some 1333 2x4GB in it and should be just fine. The CPU IMC should be able to handle it without issues.

I would not call 8gb "overkill" :-)

With mobile i5 and 330m? Yeah it's overkill.

Weird. I'm on 4gb laptop right now watching twitch and it's barely at 2gb...

How many processes are you running at once?

Also, looks like that CPU is having a hard time.
