I need java 7 to run a legacy version of a program which will not function on java 8.

No you don't need java 7. Java 8 is fully backward compatible for Java 6 and 7

Hello,

I am looking for an old version of java (java 7). However, on java's website, it says that I can't download it unless I had already paid for the support version.

Is there a copy anywhere available on the internet?

https://java.com/en/download/faq/java_7.xml

Internet archive doesn't seem to have it either...

OFF TOPIC: I suggest every poll from now on to have "**CK EA" option instead of "Other"

The site you linked has a link to the Java Archive, which would be your best bet.

Any reason you can't use Java 8 or newer? Most Java apps should run fine on newer versions of Java.

You mentioned the Internet Archive, not the Java Archive.

As far as I can see, the Java Archive has downloads for Java 7: https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/javase/javase7-archive-downloads.html

The reason you can't find it anywhere else is because Oracle changed their licensing. You could otherwise try a Linux machine with OpenJDK 7.

I cannot download it from the java archive because, as I said, it requires that I had already purchased the support version of java.

When you try to download it, it requires that you sign in, and it checks to see if you had paid for it or not.

Well in that case, OpenJDK 7 it is :P (which is only available on Linux)

https://openjdk.java.net/install/

~edit: As far as I know, the archive needs an Oracle account, but it doesn't have to be a paid account.
