Before you consider mining, have you truly looked into it? Most people spend more on electricity then they make from mining.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Funny how there are still people who think mining is a viable get rich quick scheme.

Better yet, the cost in property tax of having that machine take up space in your house or apartment will probably outweigh the potential revenue.

Nope, it's not. It's something that requires a ton of hardware to actually see any sort of returns. This is why miners are completely wiping shelves clean of GPUs.

Nah I wasnt going for get rich quick. It was more of an avenue for some extra bucks.  I just thought I have a gaming PC lying around and maybe it could generate some cash?

I'll admit I don't know the exact revenue you might get with one gaming PC. But if I had to guess, I would say you're lucky to even earn a cent per hour especially with an older gaming PC (I assume it's older since it's just lying around). If it was that easy to generate cash, well this information would be readily available by now and everyone would be doing it.

I believe power costs in Singapore were around 0.2 Cents USD per KW, that would make it at least more profitable than in other countries but you still need to consider the actual value of mined ETH, which has gone down a lot.

On a side note, I do not think mining is a viable option unless you have tons of old motherboards with cpus and fairly new gpus around already.

I mine ARMS (and have a farm, investors who purchase GPUs and pay a yearly fee etc), but then again, I have a vested interest in its success as a gun show owner.  Have to create a need in the market, to give it value (and they believe in the plan enough to make the investment).  It may pay off, it may not but as you note - its not a get rich quick, Im playing the long game :) Have enough investors and gaining traction

  • 2 weeks later...

I have my main gaming computer (RX5700 XT) mine ethereum during the night and i have a dedicated mining rig (6x RX 570) that mines etherium 24/7

I use phoenix miner as its easy and the best one. For my wallet i use metamask it has worked great for me for quite a while. I mine on https://ethermine.org and use https://kraken.com to sell my profits.

I have 100% free power so it is profitable for me and my mining rig i bought with profits from my bitcoin mining so it was essentially free too. If you have to pay for electricity (as most people do) then it may not be worth it. check out https://www.coinwarz.com/mining/ethereum/calculator and use their calculator to see if it would be worth it for you.
