Help. Pc won’t boot up motherboard lights up orange though.

Hi guys, I am building my first ever pc and I have seem to followed all of the directions and steps to building it. When I built it and tried to boot it up I turned on the power supply and the motherboard light turned amber. It stayed amber and the PC would not boot up. Please help! 
 

 

Parts: 

motherboard: Asus Prime H310M-Er2.0

CPU: Intel i5 7700k

GPU: MSI 1060

Ram: 2x 8gb Oloy

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2tb

PSU: Thermaltake Smart Series 500w

Tried re-seating the RAMs? Are all the other cables connected properly?

Looks like it. Only supports 8th and 9th gen CPU's. According to ASUS product page anyways.

300 series doesn't support 6th & 7th gen processors.

Random question: how do u check the generation of the processor. Is it if it’s an intel i5 8400k it means it’s 8th gen because of the 8? Or something else.

yup,the first numbers say the gen...

 want to install chrome os? here's how.
