Good time to buy a pre built desktop?

With the Nvidia announcement, is it a good time to buy a pre built desktop with a 2070 in it or should I wait? 

 

I am officially ready to move on from a gaming laptop to a desktop.

 

Also any links to prebuilts or custom ones are welcome.

Any chance you would build your own? Its not as hard as it seems and you will get much better bang for your buck.

If you are getting a prebuilt, then wait. Also where are you from? So I know what website I can use to build a PC.

I would always recommend building your own if possible, and if you were I would definitely wait.

 

I understand some people don't want to, so if you want to go prebuilt, I would still wait. Idk how the pricing will go, but I would imagine retailers will be wanting to ride the hype train and spit out systems with the new GPUs as quickly as possible. (Just my guess)

Since the new GPUs are reported to be such a big improvement in performance, then I would definitely wait

Not really. Most of the time prebuilt uses low end models of the same model, if you get what I mean. So you are actually getting almost the same performance just less fancy parts.

Thats true, but I think by better value, he means better quality components, which is undeniably true.

Building your own gives higher quality components (especially PSU and motherboard) and the knowledge and ability to upgrade it later.

Sometimes that is true, mostly for smaller builders like origin and ibuypower though, less so for alienware type oems. Even in the cases when you get the same parts but they put in lower end models, that often means things like dramless ssds and low speed ram where you would notice a difference from higher quality parts. Other times you get a better gpu or cpu but the overall system is very unbalanced.

I kind of agree with both of you. But for someone that probably doesn't have the experience maybe not money to get a good own PC can buy a prebuilt. That is if fun_two actually doesn't have experience.

I have been looking at both Origin and Digital Storm since this morning. But with terms of the pricing for the 2070 vs the 3000 series, I dont want to take much of the risk.

 

Also, I have built desktops, long long time ago. Of course, LTT's youtube list is a great resource to build one. 

 

So, so far, I am just doing like a pros and cons of what needs to be done. With a online "black friday", I will still keep an eye on the prices then.
