Alright, so I am wondering if there is a 1-2 ft SLI cable that would be available. I am 3d printing a custom case and am looking to have a mirrored effect (graphics card on each side of the MB) with my 780s. The longest I have seen has been 7 inches or if anyone knows if Nvidia is going to adapt AMD's integrated Crossfire through the PCI Express x16 slot.

Personally I would like to stick with Nvidia, but will buy 2 - 290s if the SLI is not possible.

When I was running 680 SLI, I had one card in the top PCI slot and the other in the bottom and the SLI bridge fit fine (a bit hard to get on, but fit).

This project sounds awesome!

Please do a build log!

As for an SLI cable, can't you make one?

If you have the capability to 3D print, I'm sure you can make a cable with 2 26 pin through hole soldered connectors fairly easily... Mind you, it might not be pretty

Read what OP said.

He's having a card either side of the motherboard. He'll need a longer cable than that

I'm not sure I understand what that means, anyone have a pic or something?

Imagine if you had a PCI slot on the back of your motherboard.

Basically, he will have a graphics card on both sides of the motherboard.

It's difficult to explain without a pic, lol

Ah, I see what you're saying. So how is he gonna connect the back card, some kind of PCI-e riser?

I'd imagine so, but I don't know.

Theoretically you could desolder a PCI slot from the front of the board, and resolder it onto the back, you'd have to be quite skilled with an iron though.

Since he's 3D printing a case, anything is possible :P

My guess is he's using a riser tbh. It would save a lot of risk ruining the motherboard by desoldering stuff

Alright, I can make a SLI bridge, not that hard, No way in hell am I going to Resolder a $400-500 board for a SLI configuration, not worth it. As for the Case itself, I just have preliminary drawings / models due to me not having all the components on hand for exact screw hole measurements.

The whole case would be watercooled / somewhat modular. Personally I would make everything that could be attached to the motherboard outside of the case in a special housing, Ex. PCI express x1 (sound card).

I would also make a custom I/O shield on the back, taking the soundcard, additional USB 3.0, video output from graphics cards. This way I could have 15-20 USB ports, 6-8 Sata ports, all audio and display ports in the back and not have them all over the case but in one jam packed location

As for Risers, yes I would be using the 20 Inch ones that 3M produces $95-125 for each Graphics card, 2 PCI Express x1 Risers for 7 additional USb 3.0 ports and my Sound card.
