Nedd to find a budget m.2 2242 sata 3 ssd

YouDontHaveToKnow

Hello,

my dad has a Lenovo E540, and he wants some faster storage...I wanted to place in there a m.2 ssd(specs: M.2 2242, 200-500gb,budget, also NVMe won't work, needs to be sata) but I can't seem to find a brand that i know...Only some chinese shit that will probably die in a week. Also would it be better to just remove the optical drive and replace it with a standard 2.5"  ssd?

Thanks in advance,

Erik.

OP asked for a 2242 size SSD, these seem to only come in 2280, unless I am missing something..?

Untrue, there are NVME and SATA Blue drives. Example

I bought M.2 2242 SSD from Aliexpress (KingDian) and it works well, though I'm only using it as a backup USB stick.

Prices have lowered a lot, now a 1TB stick only costs € 76,91.

I edit my posts more often than not

Ok, samsung and toshiba still have some 2242 size. But it's used part nothing new.

And small size mostly 128 up to 256gb only.
