Mando772004

i currently own a 2080s  got it like 4 months ago. do i need to upgrade? i currenlty have a 1080p 144hz panel and im happy but im looking to soon get a 1440p 240hz for competitive gaming like valorant and maybe fortnite. but i also am very interested in playing games like cyberpunk and ac valhalla on max settings (i dont care about rtx) so will my 2080s be sufficient or will i need to get a 3080 maybe a 3070. also to be clear the panel ill be getting doesnt have to be 1440p it can be 1080p 240hz i wouldnt mind that

Are the games out yet? No? Well, then it's pointless to ask since we don't know yet.

2080 will be more than sufficient, the upgrade (IMO) is really only worth for those with 10 series or earlier too maybe those wanting an upgrade from the 16

You won't know what GPU you need to run a specific game at a specific resolution until you try to do that. If you're happy now, and possibly ok with a couple sacrifices in the name of budgeting, then the 2080s is gonna carry you for a long long time.

Also have a 2080S I bought in January, and it'll go as soon as I can get my hands on a 3080.

Basically you can spend extra today for those extra frames in the 'diminishing returns' category, or you can chose to wait and possibly run games on medium to get a bit more life out of a perfectly good card tomorrow.

Regardless of what advice you get from strangers online, deep down inside you know that you won’t be satisfied until

you have bought a new GPU. And let’s be honest - if you can afford to spend 800 dollars on a video card for the 2080 Super, you can probably afford to take a loss on it and spend another 1000 dollars on a 3080.

Then why are you even considering upgrading? The 2080 Super will be a good card for 1080p high refresh for a while yet. If you are considering an upgrade to a 1440p 144 Hz monitor then a 3070 or 3080 is a good choice but you should probably wait a while to see why AMD brings to the table with Big Navi.

Well whether you got a good deal or not you can still sell it for the same price, and just add the difference for another card.
