So I got a 2080ti in February to play aaa titles at 1080p (don’t judge)

Can i play future games at 1080p 100-144fps max settings and rtx on or am I screwed and have to upgrade to 3080...

Rest of my system has:

3700x

32gb 3200mhz ram

4tb hdd

512gb nvme drive

At 1080p you're probably going to fine for a couple or more generations lol.

Yeah a 2080Ti is really overkill for 1080p gaming (not judging). And at 1080p there is a lot of the load that is pushed onto the CPU. As you increase resolution (1440, 4k) the load is more GPU bound. 

 

If you were chasing 1080p performance in the future a faster CPU would be the answer. But the 2080Ti will be good for a long time.

2080Ti is plenty for 1080p at 144hz. No Buyer's Remorse necessary.

I run everything on 1440p Ultra,and i have an insanely overclocked GTX 1660...

My card is nothing compared to a 2080 Ti so it will take a few good years until OP has to upgrade.

Saying 'the 2080 Ti is overkill for high refresh 1080p' really depends on what kinds of games you play. If you play CSGO, then of course it is, but if you play the latest AAA games (Red Dead 2, Microsoft Flight sim 2020, etc), with ultra detail, then it really isn't. I have a 165 Hz 1080p monitor with a RX 5700 XT and am thinking of getting a 3070 when it comes out. If we believe that the 3070 is equal to the 2080 Ti, then I should finally be able to get high FPS (120+) in these kinds of games. Add in Ray-tracing and it makes even more demands on the GPU. The only regret I would have if I were you is the fact that you paid way too much for a GPU that now costs around 500 USD.
