@Mateyyy @Oswin sorry just woke up. I am looking into getting a aoc 24g2 for a monitor & have a mouse already. I need a keyboard & a decent build under $800 that can perform well at 144hz. You can exclude the monitor from the build you guys recommend as im pretty sure that's the monitor I want.

No problem @Mateyyy.  I'll look in another forum for peripherals. But, this build should play well at 144hz? Are there any upgrade paths that will make a difference? Or would I unnecessary be spending more money for no reason?

Hardware Unboxed often includes R6S in their benchmarks, and the 1660 Super got over 144FPS at 1080p Ultra settings.

You could save some money by going with a 3100 instead of the 3600, but that will impact your performance by quite a significant amount in Siege, again, according to HUB's testing. I'd recommend the 3300X, but that's nowhere to be found unfortunately.

If I was to make a change to that list for future upgradability, I'd probably switch the B450M Pro4 for a B550M PRO-VDH which is $110 at the moment, and maybe also toss in a similarly good 550W PSU instead of the 450W Bitfenix Formula, though 450W should be fine even for the 3600 and an upgrade to a higher power GPU.

iirc that was the 2060, but the 1660s should have no problem if you lower the settings

@Mateyyy would the 3600 without the X still be viable? Whats the difference between the 2? I appreciate the info for upgrade path too thanks.

@Oswin @Avocheeseado @Mateyyy since I have a little wiggle room would I have better value at the $900-$1000 range ? If so whats a good build in that regard?

This would be the best for around $1000. Prices are quite high at the moment so this build should usually be around $950. If you are just doing 1080p, this will not be necesarry as this can handle 1440p at over 144fps

the 3600x isnt even worth the extra, you are looking at a 2 fps increase at most, just get the 3600 and a decent then enable PBO and you should be solid.

Hm, maybe they were using Vulkan in the screenshot I sent? Framerates look to be higher across the board, and I've heard that Siege does run a good bit better with Vulkan instead of DX11.

Oh wow I'm blind, I actually didn't even realise that one of them was "Very High" and the other was "Ultra", lol

Either way, a friend of mine uses a GTX 1070 and plays with a mix of competitive and visually pleasing settings at 1080p (as in, not all low 640x480) and gets over 144FPS constantly. I also managed to get ~120-144FPS at 1080p with an R9 290 in Siege, so I'd say the 1660 Super should do just fine.

what do you mean exactly by more value? the b550 tomahawk isnt really needed if you are not planning to use pcie gen 4, its overkill for a $800 build anyway.

there isnt much benefit really, but if you want a b550 you can look at the pro vdh wifi which is going for $110 right now iirc.
