iirc, not really. (other members may shed some light on this though) you just need to update it whenever you decide to upgrade to zen 3, where as the b550 is guaranteed to support those processors.

definitely consider the b550 pro vdh wifi though, its cheaper than the b450 tomahawk anyway.

Agreed, definitely go with the B550M PRO-VDH. It's got the same VRMs as the B450 Tomahawk anyway, and you're getting native Zen 3 compatibility, and the WIFI is a nice little bonus.
