I need planning help, I will be waiting for the new gen to come out and maybe black friday but I'm unsure what to do on some parts

Current PC :

Mobo : Prebuilt shit

CPU : Core i5-8400

GPU : GTX 1060 3GB (Single Fan)

RAM : 2x16 corsair vengeance pro RGB

PSU : Will blow my house up

Case : Still prebuilt

HDD : 4TB 5400 RPM, 1TB 7200 RPM

SSD 128GB M.2 SanDisk

What I'm upgrading to

Mobo : Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE

CPU : Ryzen 5 3600 (Unsure)

GPU : GTX 1060 3GB (Keep / Unsure)

RAM : 2x16 corsair vengeance pro RGB (Keep)

PSU : Corsair CX650M

Case : Corsair carbide 200R

HDD : 4TB 5400 RPM, 1TB 7200 RPM

SSD 128GB M.2 SanDisk (Keep / Unsure)

Any feedback would help

Reminder⚠️

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

For upgrading, in my personal opinion the 'why?' of it all matters a lot.

For example, I see you are unsure or keeping the videocard. If this is a gaming system at above 1080p60Hz, I would definitely consider an upgrade in that territory, since it will make the most impact in gaming.

I would also consider getting a new higher capacity SSD (like the SX8200, A2000, etc. in 500GB+ capacities), to easily be able to install Windows + a couple games to the drive.

The motherboard is great, if not a little overkill though. CPU is a good value.

What speed is your memory at, by the way?

the motherboard is un-necessary for a 3600 , get something like a msi b550 gaming plus or a-pro for half the price

yes the 3600 is a bang for the buck chip

the gpu needs to be upgraded ,so just wait till august 30th for the release of rtx 3000 cards

the ram is good enough but wont be running at good mhz since its from a prebuilt

psu is awsome

get a better case with higher airflow , something like cooler master td 500 mesh or fractal meshify c

hdd: its according to your needs , ssd : get an another 500gb ssd and also keep the current ssd

Had the A2000 before had to refund it damn prebuilt mobo was SATA and not nvme

Forgot to say that 3200mhz

So 3600 is good go? The mobo I like it and a friend has it so I feel like it's good and won't need to be switched fast

Right now highest res is 1080p144hz considering higher in the future (also need the nvec encoding

The SSD is just something to consider (as 128GB is kind of minimal nowadays) and the memory would be fine.

3600 is a good CPU, for a good price.

The motherboard is also great (I also built a system with it in the past), it's just that you could go for a cheaper B550 board and spend this money elsewhere. Emphasis on could, because it's still a great board which indeed I don't expect you'll have to exchange in a long time.

Depending on the game, the GTX 1060 would probably still be fine.

but the mobo is overkill for your cpu , getting a msi b550 gaming plus or b550 a-pro will last you long and mind that it doesnt matter if it lasts long since amd has only given assurance that the am4 socket will last till 2022

The price is almost the same here so it doesn't really matter with the x570

Some cases are timeless. Antec P180 was 2006, way ahead of its time, still looks modern today.

A case is very personal, but I don't like the Corsair 200R. I don't like the vents on top, unless you have upward exhaust fans or a 240mm radiator, that's just gonna be a dust trap. The 100R is a beautiful case with the same problem.

Tell us your location and budget and we can probably piece together a much better build, and work on finding a case that is both practical and meets your aesthetic preferences.

Also just saying, your current PC is just fine. A GTX 1060 will run absolutely anything at 1080p, and an 8400 is a modern six-core... Not sure why you wanna upgrade so bad.
