all i want to use it for is monitoring temps ect but my cpu dose not have on-board graphics dose this matter or dose it just work on its own ?

If you're running three screens off a card that supports three screen where is the issue?

because i have a 4th screen i want to use sorry

You could, but if you look on eBay there should be ones that are cheaper.

A display port hub might be better. You could daisy chain, and still have room for one more monitor if you ever felt the need. 

dose that work because on the amd website it says max display out put 3 screens

If you have 2x DVI, DP, HDMI you should be good.

The OP may be confused because EyeFinity only supports 3+1, with the 4th being independent.

Perhaps you should obtain the appropriate adapter for your needs.

I've never owned an AMD card (or a desktop for that matter) so I may be wrong but there is my 2 cents. :)

i just found out how expensive a display port hub is i think ill just save up and get another 7970

Can't use 2x DVI and HDMI at the same time. Use a DisplayPort hub to get a fourth screen running.

no amd only allows you to use DVI HDMI DP
