Using a workstation and a gaming graphics card on the same monitor

CharlesBT

Hi. I just bought a 10 bit monitor to replace my current one that just died, and I would like to take advantage of the 10 bits.

Right now, I have a 5500xt and, if I could, I would supplement it with a cheap firepro card, plugging the 5500 in the HDMI and the firepro in the displayport. Would that work? Can I set different programs to use different gpus? Could Lightroom autonomously use the 10 bit output?

Afaik you can just plug it into your GPU. It will act as a passthrough for the other devices. Also i think any modern GPU with displayport can output 10 bit natively.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

That does seem to be the case. Thank you. I had doubts because every thread I found said only workstation cards supported it, but more recent threads do say modern gpus all support it. I will be glad to keep that money.
