Should I wait for the 5960x? DDR4? Asus's future MotherBoards? I'm planning to buy the items I have in my profile in the summer. So I was wondering if I should wait after the summer so I can get my hands on the next generation and not spend it on something that will be garbage soon.

And for the wannabe mods I know I could of put it in the "Off-Topic" Section but this is related to techy stuff :).

This should be in the CPU, Motherboard, and Memory section. I'm moving the thread.

Please post in the correct sub-forum in the future.

haswell-e probably wont be released before fall or even winter this year. so if your deadline is summer, you might need to stick with ivy bridge-e.

Personal Build Project "Rained-On"

helped building up the CPU Overclocking Database and GPU Overclocking Database, check them out ;)

I was also talking about every single other product that a PC needs so yeah do whatever makes you sleep at night.

I heard they're releasing their stuff in the Q3. That's before winter and maybe in fall/after summer..

What are you using it for? IvyBridge-E won't be "Garbage" for years. DDR4 likely won't be much better than DDR3 when it's first released.

I'll be using it for gaming, school, watching movies etc. Plua I really don't want to be wasting my money on something old. I like new/better.

What you have listed is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYY overkill for that.

DDR4 most likely won't be much better, if at all, than DDR3 for a while after it's released. The 5960X will probably be close to £1000, which is a complete waste unless you do some very heavy video editing, 3D rendering, modelling etc. 16GB will be more than enough for what you want, and even a 4670K will be good for what you want to do, but you could go for a 4770K.

It doesn't seem like you're short on money if you intend to get a 1TB SSD, but you could save a lot of money by just buying what you need.

Money Talks, Shit Walks. I just want best of the best. And how will DDR4 be bad & DDR3 will be better? That's confusing in so many ways.

Don't be cheeky to staff they just try and help

Yeah they seem nice but it just pisses me off. I was talking about PC parts in general. So it's not only about the cpu/mobo/memory

you mentioned DDR4 5960x and asus motherboards so it belongs in this section weather you like it or not

DDR4 is concentrated on power management and speed. However, almost no consumer devices are limited by RAM speed. It has been proven time and time again that faster RAM has very little benefit in the real world. Similar things happened when DDR3 was first released I believe. It wasn't a big deal at first, but after a while it will become better.

If you just want to buy the best stuff you can get (even though you will see no performance increase in what you're doing), then you might as well wait and buy the most expensive stuff you can. Get Titan Blacks over KingPin edition 780Tis

Thanks for explaining it to me. And why the Black Titans? KINGPIN has more MHz.

If you're going to go for something that powerful, I hope you're not going for anything below 1600p. The Titan Blacks perform better at higher resolutions. Plus the Kingpin cards are aimed towards extreme overlcockers.

even if Titan black is like 2% better and it dont have any non-refference design. and with a NOn-refference design 780 TI you can outpreform it?

Man I really don't have time for you or that mod. You're like my girl she never stops talking till she thinks she's right. Well guess what? You're right now bye.

One thing you will learn in live, someone higher up the food chain has more authority (talking about the mod btw not me)

Lol @ Overcockers. Anyway I'll compare the 2 GPU's while we speak. But I'm going to be water cooling them and will learn how to over lock them after I build my PC. So do you still recommend the titans?

I don't know if that was a threat or not because in a food chain someone's always going to get eaten. And if the moderator decides to abuse me it's easy go to another decent community.

Yes, unless you're going for 1440p or below. The KingPins are designed for extreme overclocking, not watercooling and overclocking. They're meant to be used with LN2, custom BIOS's and voltage meters.

Not at higher resolutions. ( at least not in some games). If he's going all out, It would be a waste to go for something like 1080p. I'd assume it would be something like 3x1080p or 4k

@VSG

Did you Overclock the bad boys? And how is it working with a custom loop?

This dude has two of these bad boys and is water cooling them.

They will overclock better than regular 780Tis, yes. But you could go for the 780Ti Classified and save some money for similar performance. I'd still go for Titan Blacks though (:
